Pepper: Padrón Organic Seed

15 Organic Padrón Pepper Seeds [approx]

Name: Pepper: Padrón | Pimiento de Padrón

Latin Name: Capsicum annuum

Description: Padrón Pepper is a famous Spanish heirloom pepper variety producing small, wrinkled green peppers traditionally harvested young. Most are mild and full of flavour, but occasionally one carries a fiery kick, adding fun to every dish.

Best known for frying in olive oil and sprinkling with sea salt, these peppers are perfect for tapas, barbecues, and summer snacking straight from the pan.

Seed Origin: Netherlands

Sowing: March to May

Harvesting: June to September

How To Grow Padrón Pepper From Seed: Peppers do best when grown in a greenhouse as they require plenty of heat. Sow in small pots or seedling modules. Sow 1 - 2 Padron Pepper seeds per pot/cell. Cover lightly with compost and keep moist.

Germination is most successful at temperatures of 22°C or above. A heat mat or heated propagator may be needed to achieve this. Germination can take up to 3 weeks.

When the seedlings get their first true leaves, pot them on into a larger pot. Repeat this as the plant grows, giving it a bigger pot as it grows.

After the plant flowers, the peppers will start to grow. Harvest Padron peppers while they are green and small for the traditional mild flavour. If they are allowed to mature longer, and if temperatures allow, they will eventually turn red. The longer the peppers grow, the spicier they become.

Seed count is approximate.
